Bendy and the Brine Barrel is an unusual parody experience built around the Bendy universe, where nearly everything has been reimagined through the theme of pickles. The main character, Brine Bendy, is a mutated version of the original Bendy, now trapped inside a large brine jar along with other pickled characters. He still wears his signature bowtie, though now it’s red. Familiar faces such as Boris and The Meatly also appear in altered forms, with Pickled Boris lying cut in half on a table and Pickled Meatly hidden in a familiar corner of the map.
The game offers four possible endings depending on how players choose to respond to the final sequence. Turning around at the start gives the Coward ending. Getting caught by the Pickle Demon during the chase leads to the Pickled ending. If the player manages to trick the demon and interact with the brine barrel from the spawn room, they unlock the Cheese ending. Successfully escaping the demon without being touched grants the Escaped ending. Each outcome shifts the tone of the game and changes how the events are concluded.
Most of the in-game dialogue has been replaced with variations of the word “pickle.” For example, a recorded message by Wally Franks has been reduced to repeating the word without any further context. All written text throughout the game appears in Japanese, which translates directly to the same word. These changes create a strange but consistent theme that redefines the tone and pacing of the original style. Though it draws on known characters, Bendy and the Brine Barrel focuses entirely on subverting expectations through its repetitive concept and minimalist approach to story.
