Dreamcore is a psychological exploration game where players move through a series of liminal spaces, each designed to feel both familiar and unsettling. The game does not follow a linear structure, allowing players to freely explore areas that shift between recognizable environments and abstract spaces. There are no monsters or direct threats, focusing instead on the discomfort that comes from empty, stretched-out rooms, repeating hallways, and the absence of clear purpose.
Each Level in Dreamcore functions as a standalone space with its own rules, layout, and atmosphere. Some areas resemble flooded rooms where water covers the floors, while others look like endless suburbs or abandoned offices with no explanation for why they exist. The goal is to find the logic behind each space, identifying how they connect or change over time. Solving these environmental puzzles gradually reveals new paths and hidden sections that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Dreamcore uses a low-fidelity VHS-inspired visual style, giving every space a grainy, slightly distorted appearance. Lighting is used to highlight empty corners, distant doorways, and reflective surfaces, reinforcing the sense of being somewhere between real locations and fragmented memories. The sound design focuses on ambient noise — soft hums, distant water drips, or the faint sound of something moving just out of sight. Together, the visuals and sounds build an atmosphere where players are constantly unsure if they are alone or if something is quietly watching.
