Fortune Mill is an incremental game where the player begins with no money and must earn $1,000,000 to escape. The story setup is brief: the character was supposed to be packaged into Box #724 but instead crawls through a crack in the wall, hoping it leads outside. Progress takes place across five rooms, each with its own money-making activity, upgrades, automation systems, and creatures that can be recruited or bribed.

Different Games in Every Room

The first room starts with darts that initially produce very small amounts of gold. Earnings are spent on upgrades that increase the value of throws and eventually automate parts of the process. Later rooms introduce different mechanics, including scratch-off tickets, pachinko, dice, and sushi. Each room has its own economy, but they are connected through bonuses that affect other areas of the game.

Upgrades, Automation, and Cross-Room Bonuses

Progress depends on repeatedly earning currency, purchasing improvements, and reducing the amount of manual input required. Some upgrades affect only the current room, while others create permanent benefits across the entire Fortune Mill.

The main gameplay systems include:

  • Darts and upgraded dart throws
  • Scratch-off tickets and jackpots
  • Pachinko-based mechanics
  • Dice that provide earning multipliers
  • Sushi with effects that influence other rooms
  • Automatic income and helpers such as the Rattling Gunner
  • More than 200 upgrades across the game
  • 15 creatures that can be befriended or bribed
  • Cross-room bonuses and synergies
  • New Game+ progression after the first completion

Jackpots in Room 2 can provide permanent bonuses, Room 3 uses dice to multiply income across different rooms, and Room 4 introduces sushi effects that can modify how other systems behave. This means it is useful to return to earlier areas after unlocking new mechanics rather than treating every room as completely separate. Automation also continues working across the game, allowing previously developed rooms to keep contributing while the player concentrates elsewhere.

Reaching One Million and Continuing Afterward

The main objective is to build the different income systems until the required $1,000,000 can be reached and the player can continue toward escape. After completing the initial run, Fortune Mill also provides New Game+ modes with exclusive upgrades and an optional Lethal Mode designed around faster, more strategic progression. The overall gameplay therefore moves from manual earning to upgrades, automation, cross-room combinations, and repeated runs with additional modifiers.
