Golfmasters is a physics-based arcade game that replaces the golf ball with a penguin. A polar bear uses different clubs to launch the penguin across courses filled with animals, platforms, coins, and hazards. There is no developed storyline or dialogue campaign. The characters simply participate in an unusual golf competition where each stage ends when the penguin reaches the hole. Progress depends on calculating the launch angle and using the environment to extend each flight.
Every level gives the player a limited number of shots, usually three. Before each launch, the player adjusts the direction and strength of the swing. Releasing the input makes the polar bear strike the penguin and send it along the selected trajectory. The shot continues until the penguin stops, enters the hole, or falls into an unsuitable position. If the hole is not reached, the next attempt begins from the current landing point.
The stages are not designed like conventional golf fields. They contain cliffs, trees, water, rocks, and animals that affect movement. Landing on the correct animal can create a bounce, provide additional height, or push the penguin toward another section of the level. A poorly chosen contact may reduce speed or send the character away from the hole. Coins, gems, and treasure chests are placed along optional flight paths, giving players a reason to attempt more difficult angles.
During a typical level, players need to:
Golfmasters contains a sequence of numbered levels that introduce longer distances and more complicated arrangements. Early courses have direct routes and large landing areas. Later stages require several rebounds, accurate positioning, or the use of upgraded equipment. New golf clubs change the strength or behavior of a shot, while penguin improvements help the character travel farther. Each completed course unlocks the next challenge rather than opening a freely explorable world.
