Restaurats is a time-management game set in a fantasy restaurant operated entirely by rats. The player takes responsibility for all aspects of the service shift, from preparing meals to handling chaotic guest behavior. Each round presents a limited time frame during which the player must complete as many orders as possible. The staff consists of multiple rats who perform tasks like cooking, cleaning, and delivering food. The guests include monsters, undead beings, and other non-human visitors who behave in unpredictable ways, adding to the challenge of each shift.
The gameplay involves assigning tasks to rats quickly and efficiently. Food must be cooked and delivered to the correct customer before time runs out. At the same time, the player must respond to dropped items, spilled drinks, and food thrown back by unsatisfied guests. There are no menus or planning phases—everything happens in real time. The restaurant layout is compact, with stations positioned close together, which means space management and timing are both critical. Delays in one area can cause a chain reaction affecting the entire service.

There is no scoring system or in-game currency. The player’s success is based solely on whether the shift ends without total failure. If too many guests leave unhappy or if the kitchen becomes too messy, the session ends. The pace becomes more intense as more orders appear, requiring constant attention and fast decision-making.
The game’s environment remains fixed throughout gameplay. All tasks take place within a single restaurant space filled with cooking areas, guest tables, and cleanup zones. Guests enter in waves, and their demands vary in speed and difficulty. Some may require multiple actions to satisfy, while others may respond to delays by causing distractions. Rats have no levels or statistics; their function depends entirely on where the player sends them. All interaction happens through direct task assignment—there is no automation or AI assistance.
