Wanderburg is an action roguelike game where players control a moving fortress built in the form of a castle mounted on large wheels. Instead of exploring the world on foot, the player navigates the environment by driving this mobile structure across fields, roads, and settlements. The castle functions both as transportation and as the main combat platform. Enemies appear throughout the world, including hostile vehicles, creatures, and rival fortresses. The main objective is to survive encounters while strengthening the castle with additional structures and weapons collected during exploration.

Mobile Fortress Movement

In Wanderburg the castle moves freely across a large map while interacting with objects placed in the environment. Players steer the fortress toward enemies, resources, or locations that provide upgrades. The structure can roll over smaller objects and absorb certain materials that help expand its capabilities. Because the castle acts as the player’s main unit, movement and positioning become important during battles. Turning the fortress toward incoming threats allows weapons mounted on the walls or towers to engage enemies effectively. Navigation across the terrain also helps players avoid stronger opponents until their fortress becomes more powerful.

Fortress Modules And Equipment

The castle in Wanderburg can be expanded with different modules that improve both offensive and defensive abilities during a run.

  • Cannon towers that fire projectiles at nearby enemies
  • Defensive walls that reduce incoming damage
  • Special towers that add unique attack types
  • Resource modules that improve material collection
  • Movement upgrades that increase speed or control

These modules change how the fortress behaves during combat and exploration.

Procedural Exploration

The map in Wanderburg is generated differently for each session. Villages, enemy structures, and resource areas appear in various locations during every run. Because of this system, players cannot rely on memorizing fixed routes through the world. Instead, they must adapt to new environments and decide which locations are worth exploring. Some areas contain stronger enemies but offer better rewards, while others provide safe opportunities to collect resources and prepare for future encounters.

Wanderburg follows the typical structure of roguelike games where progress is built through repeated runs. Each session begins with a small fortress that gradually becomes larger and more complex as players collect upgrades. If the fortress is destroyed, the run ends and a new attempt begins with a different map layout. Through multiple runs, players experiment with different combinations of modules and strategies to improve survival time and build more effective mobile fortresses.
