Pinoy Henyo is a word-guessing game played by two people working as a team. One participant becomes the guesser, while the other provides limited answers. A hidden word appears on the screen, and the guesser holds the device against their forehead without viewing it. There is no storyline, fictional setting, or playable character. The objective is to identify the displayed word before the timer expires.
The clue giver can see the answer but cannot describe it directly, make gestures, or mention part of the word. They may respond only with “Yes,” “No,” or “Can Be,” traditionally expressed as “Oo,” “Hindi,” and “Puwede.” The guesser must therefore ask questions that divide the possible answers into categories. Broad questions are useful at the beginning, while specific guesses should be saved until enough information has been collected.
Most words belong to five main groups: person, animal, object, place, and food. Once the correct group is established, the player can move through smaller classifications. A person might be real or fictional, while an animal can be domestic, wild, aquatic, or airborne. Objects can be organized by location or purpose, and places can be separated into countries, cities, buildings, or landmarks.
A practical sequence of questions may include:
Pinoy Henyo does not contain numbered levels or a campaign. Quick Play selects words from all available categories and begins a round with minimal setup. Custom Play allows participants to select a category, enter their own words, and change the guessing time. Super Pinoy Henyo uses more difficult answers intended for players who already understand the usual questioning strategy.
When the correct word is spoken, the screen is tapped to stop the timer and record the result. Players can exchange roles after each round or divide a larger group into teams. The winner may be determined by the shortest completion time, the highest number of correct answers, or a locally chosen point system. Efficient play depends on maintaining a consistent order for the main categories and avoiding questions that repeat known information. Since the game relies on communication rather than action controls, a clear speaking pace and accurate “Yes,” “No,” or “Can Be” responses are essential.
