School Simulator 2018
School Simulator 2018 recreates a Japanese high school as an open-ended sandbox where the player controls a customizable student. A session begins at home, after which the character can walk to school, explore nearby streets, or ignore the daily schedule. The game has no fixed storyline or required ending. Instead, players create their own situations through attendance, conversations, club activities, exploration, and optional conflict with other characters.
Planning an Ordinary School Day
The school contains classrooms, corridors, sports areas, a swimming pool, club rooms, and spaces occupied by students and teachers. Lessons follow a timetable, but attending them is optional. Players can sit in class, visit different parts of the campus, speak with classmates, or participate in activities. The surrounding town adds roads, houses, vehicles, and other locations that can be investigated outside school hours.
Interaction Beyond the Classroom
Character customization allows the player to select a boy or girl and change clothing, hairstyles, accessories, and costumes. Social interaction is based on approaching other characters and choosing available actions. A letter can be given to a student to express affection, while repeated conversations help create simple relationship scenarios. The game also includes objects that can be picked up, carried, or used in different situations.
The main controls and actions include:
- Use the movement control to walk or run around the map.
- Move the camera to inspect rooms and nearby characters.
- Press the action button to interact with objects.
- Select Talk when standing near a student or teacher.
- Use Jump to reach raised surfaces or cross obstacles.
- Pick up school bags, letters, equipment, and other items.
- Enter available vehicles to travel around the town.
Freedom Without Numbered Levels
School Simulator 2018 does not have traditional levels, a campaign map, or a sequence of mandatory missions. The campus and town are available as a shared sandbox, while progress comes from discovering locations and testing different activities. Players may join sports and martial arts clubs, attend classes, swim, drive vehicles, or search for unusual objects. Some equipment and customization options may need to be unlocked before use.
